<h2>To start with, could you give us a brief overview of the Groover concept ?</h2>Of course! <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://groover.co/en/?utm_source=indirect&amp;utm_medium=external_media&amp;utm_channel=baseformusic_itw">Groover</a> is the platform that allows independent artists and their representatives to promote their music to the media, radio stations, playlists, labels and professionals of their choice, with the guarantee that their music will be heard and that they will get written responses from them. The media &amp; professionals can decide to share the tracks received or contact the artists - which they do on average in 30% of cases - or simply write a feedback.In 6 years, more than 4 million feedbacks have been sent by more than 3,000 media &amp; pros to more than 400,000 artists, more than 1 million shares have been made and 1,000 labels have been signed, at least which we know about.<h2>What need inspired the Groover concept ?</h2>There are over 120,000 new tracks released on Spotify every day. That's staggering... It's become almost impossible for artists to get their music known to those who can help them to emerge, to stand out from the crowd. They send hundreds of emails that go unanswered. And the media and professionals are just as frustrated at not being able to listen to all the tracks they receive. This is the number one problem for independent artists today.So our obsession with Groover from the outset has been to offer artists this access to music-discovering media &amp; pros, and to guarantee that the tracks are listened to by the media &amp; pros contacted. In fact, to recreate this access between all artists and those who can help them get known.<node-image width="80%" src="https://blog-baseformusic.s3.eu-north-1.amazonaws.com/1a43Curators-Pic-Screenshot.png" alt="Groover plateform"></node-image><h2>What is your current role and what does it involve ?</h2>As co-founder, my role changes very regularly, and that makes it exciting. These days, I'm in charge of all Groover's business and music activities, which takes up about half the team and aims to: grow the community of artists and look after them throughout the experience, on the other hand grow the community of media &amp; pros and monitor their activity and the value they bring to artists. These tasks are split between 3 talented sub-teams: the marketing team, the success &amp; operations team, and the media &amp; pros team. I also created and coordinate <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://obsessions.groover.co/">Groover Obsessions</a>, our accelerator dedicated to the most promising artists spotted on Groover.<h2>Let's talk a bit about Groover Obsessions. What is your long-term objective for this project ?</h2><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://obsessions.groover.co/">Groover Obsessions is our artist accelerator</a>. We created it to provide further support for artists who have been spotted thanks to their excellent results on Groover and who need help with promotion and marketing to move on to the next stage. And of course, Groover is one of the weapons we use to help them.We currently support around 250 artists at the time of their releases, with the particularity of being very reactive and available, and creating new opportunities for them to play live via dedicated evenings in Paris, London, New York &amp; elsewhere, creating content, and supporting them with a quality brand. The artists are divided into 4 families based on the 4 elements: .AIR, .WAVE, .TERRA, .AIR. We see Groover Obsessions as our curation entity, to highlight the artists who stand out on Groover in an attractive way and create links between them. The first is to fill in your profile properly, and choose the musical genres on your profile carefully: 1 to 3 maximum, so as to get relevant recommendations, even if it means updating them from one campaign to the next if your releases change style. I also recommend using the filters to contact the most suitable media &amp; professionals. I've also noticed that the most satisfied artists have systematically contacted more than 30, or even 50 media outlets &amp; professionals. Which is logical, because Groover's main value comes from the possibility of receiving a large number of responses guaranteed, and this maximises the chances of obtaining opportunities, shares and connections.Another point about the timing of using Groover: if you're targeting independent playlists on Spotify in particular, I'd advise you to send your track on or after the day of release, not before. On the other hand, you can contact radio stations, labels and other professionals before the release date. (photo: Leastronaute)<h2>Do you have an outstanding experience to share with our community ?</h2>In 6 years, there are so many! Every time I think about it, I think of something different. There's one night that stands out, it was in December 2021 and we were organising our first party at La Marbrerie to celebrate Groover Obsessions' first anniversary. An eclectic line-up of emerging artists we love, just like Groover: Mathieu Saïkaly, Ninety's Story, Alvin Chris, Cuarto Mundo. It was just before the last concert hall closure of the COVID period, so it was risky given the capacity of the hall and there was a feeling of the end of the world. The audience wanted to commune with the music and we were able to create the atmosphere of a mini-festival, we filled the hall to capacity, the whole Groover team was there, lots of artists, media &amp; professional Groover users. We all had an unforgettable evening, and felt a strong sense of achievement and belonging. Talking to artists programmed at the 'Spotify house', I was delighted to learn that one of them had met his publisher, another his tour manager and the last his manager on Groover. It's exactly for these kinds of connections that we created the platform.<h2>How do you see the music industry evolving over the next few years ?</h2>It's very difficult to say... In 6 years alone, things have changed a lot. Artists and press officers were still sending CDs through the post, and online media and radio stations were the primary target. These are still important today, not least because of the legitimacy they confer on the artists they share, but other players have emerged and taken on greater importance in promoting artists. In particular, independent playlists and influential accounts on TikTok and Instagram, which have changed the way content is shared to match the increasingly short attention spans of the audience.I'm curious and impatient to see these new players evolve and perhaps others emerge. I have the feeling that the relays of influence will continue to be just as important, if not more so, even if the link between artists and their audience can also be forged directly on social networks. It will continue to be difficult to stand out. I see two trends emerging, which are already underway: some artists will try to stick as closely as possible to the trend to reach a larger mass of people, while others will try to be more and more radical to stand out and reach a niche of hardcore listeners and fans. Les médias &amp; pros peuvent décider de partager les morceaux reçus ou d’entrer en contact avec les artistes - ce qu’ils font en moyenne dans 30% des cas - ou simplement écrire un retour. Ils envoient des centaines de mails qui restent sans réponse. Et les médias &amp; pros sont tout aussi frustrés de ne pas pouvoir écouter tous les morceaux qu’ils reçoivent. C’est le problème n°1 pour les artistes indépendants aujourd’hui.Notre obsession avec Groover depuis le début était donc d’offrir aux artistes cet accès aux médias &amp; pros découvreurs de musique, et de garantir que les morceaux soient écoutés par les médias &amp; pros contactés. Aujourd’hui, je pilote toute l’activité business &amp; musique de Groover, ce qui occupe à peu près la moitié de l’équipe, et qui a pour but de : faire grandir la communauté d’artistes et s’occuper d’eux tout au long de l’expérience, de l’autre côté faire grandir la communauté de médias &amp; pros et monitorer leur activité et la valeur qu’ils apportent aux artistes. Ces missions sont réparties entre 3 sous-équipes de talents : l’équipe marketing, l’équipe success &amp; opérations, et l’équipe médias &amp; pros. J’ai également créé et je coordonne <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://obsessions.groover.co/">Groover Obsessions</a>, notre accélérateur dédié aux artistes les plus prometteurs repérés sur Groover.<h2>Parlons un peu de Groover Obsessions, quel est l’objectif long terme pour vous sur ce programme ?</h2><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://obsessions.groover.co/">Groover Obsessions est notre accélérateur d’artistes</a>. Nous l’avons créé pour accompagner plus loin des artistes repérés grâce à leurs excellents résultats sur Groover et qui ont besoin d’accompagnement sur la promotion et le marketing pour passer à l’étape supérieure. Et bien sûr, Groover est une des armes que nous utilisons pour eux.Nous accompagnons aujourd’hui autour de 250 artistes lors de leurs sorties, avec la particularité d’être très réactifs et disponibles, et de leur créer de nouvelles opportunités de jouer en live via des soirées dédiées à Paris, Londres, New York &amp; ailleurs, de créer du contenu, et les soutenir avec une marque de qualité. Je conseille également d’utiliser les filtres pour contacter les médias &amp; pros les plus adaptés. On remarque aussi que les artistes les plus satisfaits ont systématiquement contacté plus de 30, même 50 médias &amp; pros (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://help.groover.co/fr/articles/4473529-quel-budget-mettre-sur-ma-campagne-groover">plus d’infos sur le budget optimal sur Groover ici</a>). Ce qui est logique, car la valeur principale de Groover vient de la possibilité de pouvoir recevoir beaucoup de réponses de façon garantie, et cela maximise les chances d’obtenir des opportunités, partages et connexions.Autre point concernant le timing d’utilisation de Groover : si vous ciblez en particulier les playlists indépendantes sur Spotify, je vous conseille d’envoyer votre morceau le jour de la sortie ou après, pas avant. À chaque fois que j’y réfléchis, je pense à quelque chose de différent. Il y a une soirée qui ressort, c’était en décembre 2021 et on organisait notre première soirée à La Marbrerie pour fêter le premier anniversaire de Groover Obsessions. Une programmation éclectique à l’image de Groover d’artistes émergents qu’on adore : Mathieu Saïkaly, Ninety’s Story, Alvin Chris, Cuarto Mundo. C’était juste avant la dernière fermeture des salles de concerts de la période COVID, c’était risqué vu la capacité de la salle et il y avait un sentiment de fin du monde. Le public avait envie de communier avec la musique et on a pu créer l’atmosphère d’un mini-festival, on a rempli la salle entièrement, toute l’équipe Groover était là, beaucoup d’artistes, médias &amp; pros utilisateurs de Groover. On a tous passé une soirée inoubliable, ressenti un sentiment fort d’accomplissement et d’être à notre place. En parlant avec des artistes programmés à la « maison Spotify », j’ai appris avec plaisir que l’un d’entre eux avait rencontré son éditeur, une autre artiste son tourneur et le dernier son manager sur Groover. C’est exactement pour ce type de connexions que nous avons créé la plateforme. <h2>Comment vois-tu évoluer l’industrie musicale dans les prochaines années ?</h2>C’est très difficile à dire... Rien qu’en 6 ans, les choses ont beaucoup changé. Les artistes et attaché.e.s de presse envoyaient encore des CD par la poste, les médias en ligne et radios étaient la première cible. Ceux-ci ont encore de l’importance aujourd’hui, notamment par la légitimité qu’ils confèrent aux artistes partagés, mais d’autres acteurs ont émergé et pris plus d’importance pour faire connaître les artistes. En particulier les playlists indépendantes et les comptes influents sur TikTok et Instagram, qui ont fait évoluer la façon de partager les contenus pour correspondre à des courbes d’attention de plus en plus courtes de la part de l’audience.Je suis curieux et impatient de voir ces nouveaux acteurs évoluer et peut-être d’autres naître, j’ai le sentiment que les relais d’influence seront toujours aussi importants si ce n’est plus, et ce même si le lien entre les artistes et leur audience peut aussi se constituer de façon directe sur les réseaux sociaux.&nbsp;Il continuera d’être difficile de se démarquer. Je vois deux tendances se dessiner, qui sont déjà en marche : certains artistes essaieront de coller le plus possible à la tendance pour toucher une plus grande masse de personnes, d’autres essaieront au contraire d’être de plus en plus radicaux pour se démarquer et toucher une niche d’auditeurs et de fans hardcore.
